They say you meet for a reason, a season or a lifetime. Over the last 20 years I can say, you have been all 3.
An amazing friend you kept the bar high, a lifelong learner, pulling me along or rather pushing me when I wanted to stop, the first to caution me to pay attention to politics and have a voice; thank you always bringing the wine! Gone far too early with unfinished plans, you are missed already. RIP Francis

It is with beyond a heavy heart Curds that I write this note while celebrating our 40th. Can’t believe this came on so fast and your battle took place far from home. You were a fine young groomsman at our wedding at UCCB.
My Aunt Eileen was right, you did look like a young Burt Reynolds. We shared many experiences since around grade 4 in New Waterford then sharing an apartment in Dartmouth. Your influence on all your friends was huge. Fixing cars, racing cars, being our statistical sports expert for all sports, triple features at the drive in, using that deadly left hand on a pool table or in a little confrontation. Most importantly, always being an extremely loyal friend that could be counted on in good times or bad. I am a bit upset that you and Lorne can’t be challenged one more time at out famous Tarbish tournaments as you two were incredibly hard to defeat. Earned too many championships with the all important bragging rights. The more shots of JD the smarter you got. Anyone can win with all the trump cards but only the best could do it without them. You were the ice man whenever trouble came our way like spinning out 5 revolutions on a very ice covered Kelly’s Mountain. My heart rate was at 180 downshifting & braking as we spun towards the look off rail. You were your normal cucumber self calmly saying ditch it in that big snow bank if you can. You got out assessed the car and said no big damage, we can drive it home. You dug in the old cassette tape case and decided the day was worthy of some more aggressive music. Must not be our time Mellow. Every time I spent quality time with you it was so positive. You complained very little about your own problems and always had kind thoughts for your friends and family. Now certain sports teams or politics was a much different story. I have no doubt that Neila as always jumped threw burning hoops to help you and your children out in every possible way. I so wish that in 2024 the medical teams could have found a way to fix the problems. Knowing you Curds, you would have battled super hard but being too smart for your own good you would have known the end was near and rationalized that it must be your time. Too dam young though.
I don’t know if there ever could be a book or movie about all your adventures but it would not be boring.
Probably a double or triple feature to do it justice. When you settle in at your new location I have no doubt they will know someone special has arrived. If you can influence things from above you will figure out a way to help your family and friends. RIP my good friend ands thanks for the hundreds of great memories.

Thinking of Francis, his sister and children today as I hear of his passing. I spent many hrs with Francis as a volunteer firefighter and I will miss our "in deep" driveway conversations about the govt and politics. May you rest in peace Francis

Neila and family; it had been many years since I’d seen Francis, then in 2018 we reconnected again when our mothers became roommates. We kept in touch and while we shared a love of dogs we were miles apart on favourite bands. Our last conversation we talked pensions, plans, and he seemed settled with his decision to finally come home to New Waterford. I am deeply saddened that chapter never got written. Rest in Peace my friend. I’m certain Neil Peart was waiting sticks in hand to greet his biggest admirer.

Our Deepest condolences to Neila, and the children of Francis (Curds) and family. We always enjoyed our weekly conversations about the price of gas. Curds would stop by or Beep as he was passing our house in Big Pond coming from or to Halifax. We hope that he and Blair are having a great time together again.
He will definitely missed by all who knew him as a wonderful friend.
Rest Easy Francis.
