Obituary of Neville Gordon (Spider) Wells, NL, New Waterford

It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Neville Gordon "Spider" Wells, age 85, of Summerside and Goose Arm, Newfoundland at the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on October 22, 2024.

Born in Summerside, Newfoundland, Neville was the son of the late Albert and Elvina Wells.

Neville had a wide variety of occupations but was primarily a heavy equipment operator, working with cranes and front end loaders. Over the years he became skilled in plumbing, electrical and automotive repairs. Neville was generous with these skills, helping anyone who needed his assistance.

Neville was happiest while dancing to his favorite Newfoundland music and was an avid collector of cd's produced by a variety of artists in the Maritimes. He was a fantastic dancer, especially waltzing, jiving and square dancing.

Neville is survived by his son, Terry Clarke of Brampton Ontario; daughter, Sherry Pilgrim of Northern Ontario; stepson, Donald Russell of Vancouver BC; grandsons, Jake and Ryan Bragan and their families in Ontario. Neville grew up in a family of 11 children and is survived by his two sisters, Catherine and Nina of Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Ontario. He will be greatly missed by his ex-wife of 21 years and lifelong companion, Caroline Ross of New Waterford, NS and his stepdaughter, Jennifer Russell of Mississauga, Ontario, who were  both with him at the time of his passing.

Gratitude is extended to the many care providers of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, and the nurses and doctors of the Emergency Department and Palliative Care unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for taking such good care of Neville during the final stages of his illnesses and passing.
